Angelinka is an 8-year-old girl. During childbirth, the baby had four loops of the umbilical cord around her neck, as a result of which Angelina was born without breathing and required resuscitation, after which she developed cerebral edema and began to have seizures. On the third day, as her condition worsened, she was airlifted to a regional hospital of the third level, where she spent two months in a deep coma in the intensive care unit. During this time, she suffered from meningitis, sepsis, and multiple organ failure.
The consequences of this difficult start remain with Angelinka forever. She has cerebral palsy, drug-resistant epilepsy, severe spasticity, joint contractures, and problems with swallowing and nutrition. She cannot sit or stand on her own, can only partially hold her head, and cannot chew food, relying on specialized nutrition. Since the first months of life, Angelinka has been under constant medical supervision and receives regular rehabilitation.
Currently, her condition is unstable due to epilepsy, so intensive physical activity is temporarily not recommended. But doing nothing would lead to pain, muscle weakening, and the development of irreversible contractures. That is why doctors recommend therapeutic and wellness massages — a safe way to support her body, reduce spasticity, and prevent further deterioration. This fundraiser is about making sure Angelinka’s body doesn’t give up, so she can live with less pain and have a chance for a better quality of life.
