When infections are constantly living in the lungs, you have to fight for breathing every day. Our children and adults living with cystic fibrosis have to take many inhalations and physiotherapy treatments every day to clear their airways, otherwise they suffocate. 

The parts of the inhaler and breathing machines need to be sterilised after each set of treatments to reduce the risk of infection. To do this, you can simply boil them in a saucepan for 10-15 minutes – a very effective way to kill pathogens. However, the parts themselves wear out faster this way. And they also cost money and cannot be provided on the budget. A more economical way is to purchase a home steriliser. Yes, we are talking about the kind of devices that young parents use for baby bottles. Using this example, it is easy to understand that it is very helpful and facilitates care. And for our wards, it also saves lives, protecting them from exacerbation.
