UPD: our Stepan became an angel. The disease named CMA was stronger. The UBB team brings our most sincere words of sympathy to Stepan's relatives and thanks to all the Donors who supported the boy. Stepan is a fighter for life, he was born before the line. His immature lungs did not open during childbirth, during the resuscitation, a stroke occurred... Only by two months, the baby was able to breathe independently. But the restless happiness of parents did not last long. Against the background of not passing general weakness and lethargy, there were sudden problems with breathing. Then again there was resuscitation and now with a tracheostomy (this is a hole in the neck that allows breathing).

The boy was diagnosed with a genetic disease – Verdnig-Hoffmann's spinal muscular atrophy. This diagnosis has deprived the baby of the opportunity to move, breathe and swallow independently, but left a clear mind and intelligence... Stepan is dependent on the apparatus of artificial lung ventilation and being in a stable general condition he has lived in the intensive care unit for most of his life. There he looked with his eyes at the window, saw a piece of the sky and only sometimes mom and dad.

When the device for ventilation was purchased, the boy's mother was allowed to be in the ward with his son. However, the fear did not pass, and the baby even in a dream kept his weak fingers with his mother. Half a year Stepan lives with her parents at home, but everything is complicated. During this time he had a relapse of nosocomial infection - Pseudomonas. In order for the baby to live and breathe, only the apparatus of artificial ventilation is not enough. The boy needs a good moisturizer, a heater for the respiratory mixture and a monthly replacement of the air supply ducts, cans, and filters that will protect the lungs from infection. It is very expensive. Mom always spends with Stepan, dad has a job - she trades in the market to support her family and an old grandmother.

In Stepan's small cot it is difficult to place everything you need and perform all the procedures and drainage massage. We ask all kind people to help this family, they need funds to purchase a functional bed with an electric drive, a humidifier for the respiratory mixture, consumables for it for a year and an oxygen concentrator.
