A new Profession – a New Life

There is a place in Kyiv where young women in the most difficult living situations come for help. These girls are homeless, lack for family support. They don’t have a job but have babies and need support in taking care of them. Many of these girls suffer health problems and have history of alcohol or drug abuse. Despite all the difficulties they have a strongest desire for changes and better life. In order to help these girls the HealthRight Service plans to organize courses of hairdressers, makeup artists, cooks. For this project we need 16,200 UAH.

Anna, 23 years old (in the photo):

“After the death of my mother in my early childhood I’ve been living with my grandmother. In my teens I went onto the street, where I’ve got pregnant and gave birth to a daughter Lera at the age of 20. I regret to say, but then I perceived the baby as a burden and decided to place her temporary in an orphanage.

I came to the HealthRight Center for the first time in November 2010 upon my friend’s recommendation. I needed then psychological support. Counseling with a psychologist had to somehow influence my attitudes towards life, my purposes, and my living in general. We talked about everything that happened, about me and my daughter, about the past and the future”.

The HealthRight Center’s team (2, Dovzhenka Str.) put all its efforts to prevent the deprivation of Ania’s parental rights. Moreover, with the Center’s assistance she received child benefit, recovered documents. As well, Ania and her daughter Valeria underwent medical screening due to the Center’s referral. Now Anna and 3 year old Valeria are living at home together. Ania plans to set up the daughter in a kindergarten, and start working.

We help the girls like Ania who have found the strength to fight, even in the most difficult situation. As far as it is really hard to find a decent job without proper skills or education, we are going to help girls in getting a chance for changes. Professional makeup courses, courses of hairdressers and cooks will become a real opportunity for them to start a new life.

If you help us with fundraising to pay for the work of master teachers, 17 more young and inexperienced girls will receive hope for a decent job and decent life.
