Odesa. Help the tiniest
Sometimes the life of a baby depends on insignificant things. It would seem that here is the modern neonatal intensive care unit, equipped as a spacecraft with complex and very expensive equipment. It helps doctors to care for prematurely born babies. The fact that a healthy newborn is given by nature by default, these crumbs have to work very hard. Many of them the first days, and sometimes even weeks of their lives can't breathe or eat independently.
Therefore, for the life of a small man meets high-tech medical equipment. Devices of artificial ventilation "breathe" instead of children, incubators "warm and moisturize", infusion pumps "feed and treat", monitors "monitor" to ensure that their main indicators were in order. The lives of children depend on the smooth operation of this technology.
But there is nothing eternal. Separate blocks and parts from time to time wear out, the sensors require replacement, contours, humidifiers, oxygen cells and other small but important cogs of large and intelligent mechanisms. In the conditions of limited budget financing of medicine, it is a huge problem to repair and replace "small things" for Ukrainian hospitals and maternity homes. As a result, the breathing apparatus necessary for the 600-gram kid goes to dust in the back room, the incubator is idle, which could successfully replace the mother's tummy, etc.
The Department of Intensive Care of Neonatal-Perinatal Center of Odessa Regional Clinical Hospital, which takes all the most severe cases of miscarriage and premature birth, has become an exception. About 500 children have treated annually in the department, 80% of which were born before the term. For several months, two non-invasive ventilation devices of Infant Flow Sipap are not working here. For several months now, instead of using reusable central venous catheters, doctors have to use the usual and injure handles of deeply-pediatric children, constantly piercing their thin wreaths. Replace the oxygen cells in the apparatus and purchase central venous lines for the hospital is an inadmissible luxury...
The smallest and most vulnerable Odessa citizens really need our support. Any help is of great importance and can alleviate suffering and give them a chance for a healthy and fulfilling life!
