Onkospar for Arsen

Do you remember the amazing age of 17-18? The time when you are finally a student and the air is intoxicating, life seems infinite and exciting, when you are full of energy to live even several lives, you are so ready. You just left the parents' nest and your head goes dizzy with opportunities and possibilities.And then BOOM you get diagnosed with cancer. Leukemia at 17. And suddenly your life starts being measured by thousands of hryvnias. Can you picture this? I bet not.

Arsen also couldn't... He was just tired after his studies, came home to visit parents and they thought he just seemed extremely exhausted, drained and very pale. If it hadn't been for these pale lips and ears they wouldn't have rushed to hospital, they would have just waited for the weariness to pass. Fortunately for Arsen they did everything very fast. Tests were taken and the boy was admitted to hematology department of Lviv Regional Children’s Specialized Clinical Hospital to fight leukemia.
Arsen needs expensive medication ONCASPAR (47500 uah) and he needs it in two weeks. October, 24 is the date of his next course of chemotherapy protocol, however there are no medications for Arsen available. But even if the hospital did have the drug needed it would make no difference to Arsen because over the course of treatment Arsen turned 18 and he is no longer on the list of the Child Cancer programme.
Arsen dreams of beating cancer and coming back to his studies. His biggest passion is computer. The boy is too mature and too smart to understand that things are not going to be that easy and that he needs to be patient and maybe he will have to forget about doing sports and sacrifice other things to his disease. He is ready to pay whatever price it is to be cured. And it is just too frustrating and too scary to understand that this price is measured by hryvnias...47500 - this is the sum that is needed for Arsen to carry on his fight for life.
