Daily support: a special chair for Amirkhan

Amirkhan is 5 years old. He lives with cerebral palsy and epilepsy and faces challenges every day just to be able to sit, play, eat, and learn safely and without pain. To do this, he urgently needs a special supportive chair with a desk that will properly position his body and provide stable support. This fundraiser has been created to purchase such a chair and give Amirkhan a safe, comfortable space for development and everyday achievements.

Amirkhan’s life began with severe medical complications. In the maternity hospital, he contracted a serious infection – Pseudomonas aeruginosa. During his first month of life, doctors fought to save him: he was in a medically induced coma, on mechanical ventilation, suffered from sepsis, anaphylactic shock, and hypoxia. After that, there was a long and difficult period of recovery for his small body. At six months old, Amirkhan began having epileptic seizures. Numerous examinations – including MRI scans, EEG monitoring, and genetic testing – confirmed that his epilepsy was a consequence of the trauma he experienced at birth. In 2022, Amirkhan was officially granted disability status (subcategory A).

Despite all these diagnoses, Amirkhan is a curious and determined little boy. During therapy sessions and rehabilitation, he tries very hard and continues to make progress. At home, his parents work with him every day 

following specialists’ recommendations, because consistent effort is key to giving him a chance to develop and improve his quality of life.

One of Amirkhan’s most urgent needs today is a special supportive chair with a desk. Regular furniture cannot provide proper posture, may worsen spinal issues, and can create additional health risks. This special chair will allow Amirkhan to sit safely, eat, play, and take part in learning activities, helping him move toward greater independence. Every child deserves their own place to grow and develop. We believe that despite all the difficulties, Amirkhan has many small victories ahead.
