Is it possible to pull yourself together in a split second and not to sink into despair when your newborn baby is diagnosed with a grave incurable disease? Would you be able to keep a cool head and act calmly as you're told that starting from today the life of your child will depend on dozens of drugs, daily therapy, regular hospitalizations with painful examinations and medical procedures? Can a person immediately grasp the requirements of the new reality: drug regimen, diet/feeding adjustments, unfamiliar procedures – inhalations, sterilizations, kinesiotherapy (physical and breathing exercises), search for required doctors, tests, and check-ups? Will there be enough money to buy all the equipment at once?

With birth of a child with cystic fibrosis, a family from the very start is faced with such a huge amount of new information and needs that it cannot cope with on its own, either physically, morally, or financially.

In an effort to help such families, we've prepared special "baby boxes" for the babies, which contain the most needed items for immediate initiation of the treatment for cystic fibrosis, such as inhalers, sterilizers, germicidal lamps – the equipment the families need to have from the first day of the diagnosis. Since the earlier the treatment begins, the better the prognosis for the child, the happier the years ahead.

The task for the parents is to overcome the initial shock and to gradually grasp all the nuances of future living with cystic fibrosis, whereas our task is to support them in this most difficult time, so that they know they're not alone. In order to do this, we always need to have at least a few of the baby boxes in stock, so that we could give them to the newly diagnosed children.
