First steps for Maksymchyk. Stage 3

On November 25th Maksym turns nine years old! But the boy does not dream about sweets, toys or fashionable gadgets since Maksim's biggest dream is the ability to walk with his mother around the park, play football with friends and rush headlong to meet the wind. Although spastic paraparesis gradually recedes, Maksim still needs specialized treat from rehabilitators.

The history began nine years ago when Maksim was born, however, until now the boy is unable to walk because he has problems with the muscles on his legs. The child grows but legs and muscles do not develop, and as a result muscles tense and twist the legs. After visiting rehabilitation courses in specialized centers Maksym learned to sit, crawl, kneel, and now he walks with support. The course of massages, joints' development, wax-paraffin baths and physiotherapy gave outstanding results: the boy began to actively stand on legs. These results Maksym, his mother and doctors reached after undergoing two courses at the Center for Medical Rehabilitation of Disabled Children "Apis-Melifika" by funds collected on UBB. Courageous and strong spirit Maksym successfully coped with all difficult exercises, and finally, for the first time in his life, he stood himself in legs and made his long-awaited first steps during the last rehabilitation course! All efforts, exercises, pain, and long years of aspirations and hopes finally became a reality.

Maksym is a bit shy but sincere, cheerful and hard-working boy. The results of rehabilitation motivate him to continue to work. He is ready to ride a bike for hours, do morning exercises and stand up on the legs to avoid losing the dynamics of obtained improvement. Right now, Maksym mentally and physically is ready for the next course of rehabilitation, but, unfortunately, his mother Halyna Melnyl raises Maksym herself and cannot afford to pay the rehabilitation course.
