Diapers and diapers for the elderly

The lives of people with limited mobility and bedriddenness can complicate the simplest things that seem trivial to healthy people. They are forced to spend time and effort on such routine things as cutting and tucking old linens, oilcloths and blankets into the bed, as well as washing and drying used disposable diapers when the supply runs out and there are no new ones. Old women who are forced to spend most of their time in bed need help with diapers and diapers the most.

They need about 60 diapers every month.

Among those we support are elderly people who do not receive government support for nappies because they have grown-up children. However, the circumstances make this situation difficult: either the children are far away and cannot help their parents, or they suffer from alcohol or drug addiction. This means that these people cannot receive public assistance because of deficiencies in the documents, although in fact they are alone and need support.

The average pension of these people is only 3,500 - 4,000 UAH, while the cost of a pack of diapers is approximately 500 UAH. So, after calculating, they have to spend almost half of their pension to cover only basic needs.

For more than 20 years, the "Caritas-Kyiv" charity fund has not left the elderly alone with their difficulties and problems. Specialists in social work communicate with the wards, listen to their needs and arrange their lives taking into account their needs. Medical and social support provided by the foundation is aimed at a deeper understanding of the problem of each individual person, taking into account his environment.

We also provide food, bedding and, if needed, medical equipment and wheelchairs. But at the moment, one of the biggest problems is the lack of diapers and diapers for bedridden elderly people, people with serious diseases and people with disabilities.

We are calling on you to help raise funds for the purchase of diapers and diapers for bedridden seriously ill elderly people. It is important for them to know that their dignity is respected, that they are properly cared for and that their physical characteristics and needs are taken into account.
