News October 2025
In early September, Valeria underwent a long-awaited spinal surgery at the OKHMATDIT hospital. The procedure lasted eight hours and, according to the doctor, went very well, without complications. The postoperative suture healed well, and there was no inflammation. The doctors admitted that they did not expect such a good result given the child's diagnosis of grade 4 scoliosis.
Lera's mother began to sit her up on the fifth day after the operation. Before that, they gradually raised the back of the bed so that her body could gradually get used to it and her back would not be overloaded. Valeria bravely endured the pain — the hardest part was when they put her back in bed. For almost a month, the girl took painkillers at night, but since 4 October, she has been able to manage without them. Her back has become less tired, her posture has straightened, her height has increased, and she no longer slumps. The girl has already adapted to the brace.
The most difficult stage — the operation itself and the first weeks of recovery — is now behind her. Now Lera is gradually returning to her normal rhythm of life: she spends more time sitting and is preparing to resume her studies. A new stage lies ahead: learning to walk again, stand, and live without pain.
Her mother is very grateful to all donors and subscribers of dobro.ua for supporting her daughter!
