Support Denys's thirst for life. 2
The veins of a 12-year-old boy can no longer withstand as many dropping tubes as his illness requires. During the last year, Denys spent 10 months out of 12 in the hospital fighting against the infection, which settled in his weakened lungs. Denys really needs a special port to administer medicines intravenously to regain his health and restore his veins.
The boy was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of two. Genetic damage has caused all the secretions in the child's body to be much more viscous than the norm is. Therefore, food is not digested without enzymes, the liver and pancreas suffer, and sputum is collected in the lungs interfering to breathe. This sputum also becomes an “ideal” place for infections. Denys was diagnosed with aspergillosis – a severe fungal infection. To overcome it, you need to go through more than one month of antibiotic and hormone therapy.
The dropping tubes are only one kind of therapy. Denys constantly takes pills, does exercises and inhales. The guy is very active; all his hobbies are related to movement. This is a big plus, because movement helps clear the lungs of sputum. But when there is an exacerbation and breathing becomes harder, there is no desire to move and have fun.
We really want Denys's thirst for life not to decrease. That’s why we ask you to help pay for his port, annual sets of cups and tubes for his inhaler and food certificates, so that the boy can follow a high-calorie diet. In his letter, Denys wrote to us that he sincerely hopes for your support. We believe that together we will show him: good is a great force!
