Let's fight for Lisa!

Liza was looking forward to summer! Running from the house standing on the village edge and going to the field! Minding goats with the grandpa, feeding chickens with her grandma… summer – freedom! During winter only two rooms were heated because of saving reasons and Liza could not go outdoors due to cold weather. Liza should not be sick. Simple flue can turn into severe pneumonia. Liza has cystic fibrosis. It damages lungs and makes breathing more difficult. Her mom transforms games to special physical exercises to be done every day and persuades the girl to take lots of pills – Liza cannot pull through without them.

The cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease damaging the whole organism and setting strict rules. If you follow the rules, you have a chance to grow up and live a long life. If you fail, your life will end too soon, there are no other options. But how is it to be a child under such circumstances?

The lungs of a sick person are stuck with sticky mucus in which infections constantly live. Adult patients do a lot of special physical exercises to free their lungs and for the children their parents try to make an environment allowing the child to move a lot. Now Liza is outside for all the days helping her grandpa and grandma to tend for animals – no dolls can be compared to living creatures to be cared for. But when the weather breaks, the girl will have to be inside. And
during long winter days she will have to sit inside again…

All this is critical for the girl, especially now when Liza is very little, the organism is vigorously developing and a “margin of safety” is laid for the future… With every year cystic fibrosis is complicated with new problems and it became harder to cope with it.
