GIVE COMFORT
What is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions a retirement home? Loneliness, poverty, gray and sadness... Indeed, Ukrainian geriatric nursing homes are far from the standards and norms of elderly people's lives in Europe. This is not a rest home. And the elderly in Ukraine mostly end up in such institutions not because of a better life. The vast majority do not have children or grandchildren to care for them or require special treatment (bedridden elderly).
Also, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, many elderly people have been forced to move to another region due to the danger or loss of their homes. This has led to a shortage of basic items in nursing homes, especially bedding. Due to Russia's full-scale invasion, the number of people in need has increased tremendously, and the state physically cannot cover and finance all areas properly in time.
Since 2015, the Let's Help Charitable Foundation has been systematically and comprehensively supporting the elderly. The foundation takes care of 127 geriatric nursing homes and 15,000 pensioners in 10 regions of Ukraine. The Foundation's goal is to ensure a decent old age in Ukraine. And the main task at the moment is to create comfortable living conditions for the elderly living in geriatric nursing homes and inpatient departments of territorial social assistance centers under our care.
We want to implement a project aimed at improving the living conditions of elderly people in geriatric homes. Our goal is to upgrade the bedding, which includes a sheet, duvet cover, and pillowcase, for each ward to high-quality and pleasant to the touch. After all, bedding is the thing that nursing home residents touch the most, and bedridden people spend all their time with it. Therefore, the condition of the bedding determines whether an old person feels comfortable and cozy, or vice versa - disgusted and sad.
This project involves the purchase of bed linen for institutions that have recently received the least assistance from volunteers, foundations, and the state, as well as institutions that host the largest number of IDPs and need additional support from the foundation. That is why we want to update the bed linen in the boarding houses in Cherkasy and Zhytomyr regions. These are more than 1600 residents*.
The cost of one set, including logistics, is about 605 UAH. We plan to raise at least UAH 968 000 UAH to cover the needs of Cherkasy and Zhytomyr regions. We will be extremely grateful if we can raise a larger amount and help other regions, primarily Ivano-Frankivsk and Kyiv. Let us remind you that 127 geriatric nursing homes and 15,000 pensioners in 10 regions of Ukraine are under the care of the Let's Help Foundation.
We are asking for your help, our dear benefactors! Join the project. Let's give comfort and a decent old age to lonely grandparents in such a difficult time!
*The number of clients varies depending on different circumstances, primarily elderly IDPs who suffered from Russian aggression and were forced to move to a safer place. At the time of purchase and delivery of the aid, all data is clarified and the number of kits is transferred equal to the number of wards, so that everyone is on equal terms.
