Children and their parents who got into the department of rehabilitation treatment of Kiev City Children's Clinical Hospital No. 1 know that they will face a difficult path and that they will have to spend many days in this room. Annually about 8000 children go through the LFK's department. They all have different reasons. They are traumatologists’, rheumatologists’, neurologists’ patients. All of them have to work hard to restore lost functions or learn new important skills.

At the moment, LFK room is in dire need of purchasing and laying a special rubber covering. There is an unheated cellar under the premise, and it causes children freezing in the cold season. In addition, the rubber covering is inherently safe – soft and non-slip. The first baby steps are very shaky and awkward, especially when it's a child with a nervous system damage. One step and it’s a breakthrough. And their chances increase on a soft floor when it is convenient and not scary to walk, not so painful and scary to fall and legs do not move apart. Moreover, the rubber covering is durable, and therefore longeval.

The recirculator is another urgent need for the LFK room. This device is able to disinfect the air in the room in the presence of people. And this is very important because about 20 children go through the LFK's department daily. And it’s impossible for them to get sick and interrupt the rehabilitation course.

It much has been done already thanks to the volunteers and enthusiasm of the staff of the department, but the scope of necessary changes is so great that we can only handle with the efforts of all those who are not indifferent.
