Let's give Marynka hope for her future. 7
Marina is a 10-year-old girl now. She is beautiful and intelligent; she loves reading her favorite books, drawing and mathematics. But she can’t become independent and do many things that healthy children can cope with because she does everything using the only one hand: she can't dress by herself, can’t help her mother and much more. Marina’s illness was diagnosed as cerebral palsy, right-sided hemiparesis. These are all the consequences of a serious illness from which she suffered after birth.
She didn’t scream immediately after birth as it should be, but wheezed, coughed, breathed badly. At first she was diagnosed with pneumonia, having been prescribed antibiotics and placed under a ventilator. But in a few days, cramps began and another terrible diagnosis, meningitis, was made out. Marina spent the whole month in the neonatal pathology department, underwent a serious course of treatment after which it seemed she came home being a healthy child.
All major problems began to appear closer to one year. She couldn’t sit and along with this hypertonia in the right arm and leg was discovered. After paying a visit to the neurologist and other specialists, it was found out that serious and long-term treatment was needed. Since that time everlasting medical advices, examinations, and rehabilitation courses took place. Firstly, with the help of massage courses, remedial exercises and medical treatment, they did all their best to make her sitting. They relieved hypertonia in her arm and leg. Marina made her first steps very late; she can’t fully do something with her right hand and pulls her right leg, puts it on tiptoe.
Parents took Marina to different clinics and rehabilitation centers for rehabilitations, where she underwent massages, exercise therapy, various types of rehabilitation treatment related to this pathology. Every time it got better, the result was seen before very eyes: the leg became smoother and the arm began to work little by little. But Marina is growing up and with each growth spurt the tone in her arm and leg intensifies. The treatment at Bersenev Medical Center affects her greatly. Each course of injections and massage yields positive results.
Marina endured two surgeries – one at the age at four, which was lighter, and the second at the age of seven, when the acquired hip displacement was eliminated. This surgery was very grave and was performed in two steps. But this still didn’t lead to the desired result.
The family is looking forward to your support and needs your help. Marina extremely eagers to recover and be the same as all healthy children are. She needs to undertake constant courses of treatment in order to become at least a little stronger and sounder. Every course of treatment for her is a step up, a step in the future.
