This family knows all too well how life can change in an instant. Not so long ago they lived in their home city of Mariupol: a mother and father raising little Diana and eagerly awaiting the birth of twins. But in February 2022, their home came under relentless shelling. The mother was in her final month of pregnancy when the city became a trap – without electricity, water, or safe medical care. Amid the explosions, the father drove the family to Berdiansk, saving the people most precious to him. It was there, on April 1, 2022, that Yaroslavchyk and Sofiika were born.

But the trials for the family were only beginning. After birth, Yaroslav urgently needed surgery. The intense trauma, forced displacement, and constant fear also left their mark on the older daughter Diana: the girl began losing contact with the world around her and developed difficulties with speech, attention, and communication. Little Diana, Yaroslav, and Sofiika had barely had the chance to experience a carefree childhood before they had already lived through war, the loss of their home, and an exhausting fight for their health. Their parents found themselves in a state of complete exhaustion and despair – but reaching out to specialists at the Institute of Pain Problems gave the family hope.

Thanks to treatment, there are already important changes in the children. Yaroslav has become more attentive, responds better to spoken language, and shows greater interest in games and the world around him. Diana is gradually maintaining eye contact for longer periods, has begun to produce new sounds, and responds more emotionally to communication and play. For some these may seem like small steps – but for their parents, they are a source of tremendous hope.

There are three children in the family, only the father works, and the mother is constantly by the little ones' side caring for the children. The family cannot afford to pay for the necessary treatment on their own. But it is precisely thanks to the support of caring people that the children have already achieved such important results.

We believe in your kindness and compassion! Let's help this family not lose hope and continue their journey toward new victories and improvements in the condition of Yaroslavchyk and Diana.
