News October 2025
Danilo from Kryvyi Rih has severe central nervous system damage, epilepsy, and severe mental retardation. He has practically lost his sight, stopped talking, and become afraid of loud noises. But behind these diagnoses lies the life of an eighteen-year-old boy who needs constant care and attention from his family.
In September 2024, the seizures resumed. The attacks begin in the morning: his body starts to shake, and tears of pain roll down his cheeks. Dany now takes Depakine Chrono and Levetiracetam.
The anticonvulsant drugs caused muscle weakness (before taking them, the young man could walk with support), and the full-scale war deprived him of the opportunity to undergo rehabilitation – the centre in Kryvyi Rih closed. Now Danylo moves around in a wheelchair.
However, at the age of 18, the medical and social commission assigned Danylo a disability category B instead of category A and stated that he did not need rehabilitation or to apply to the pension fund and social security for assistance. His mother officially appealed this decision, but the family has not received disability payments for several months.
Danylo really needs our help. We are launching a fundraiser to provide the boy with a year's supply of medication (Depakin Chrono and Sudocrem) and hygiene products. Every hryvnia you donate is an opportunity to improve Danylo's quality of life and relieve his pain!
