Polina dreams of living

When in the fall of 2023 Polina was diagnosed with a large tumor near her heart – thymic carcinoma – her life was divided into before and after. Polina has already undergone 12 courses of chemotherapy. She still has a long way to go in treatment, and her family has no more money. For the next three courses of treatment with Kitruda, the family needs to raise an unaffordable amount of money.

The girl is studying in the 3rd year of the University of Customs and Finance, majoring in International Relations. She enjoys learning English, German, and Spanish, is learning to play the guitar, and dreams of traveling and having her own family.

Polina was troubled by pain in her chest and back. An X-ray showed the presence of a tumor close to the heart and the superior vena cava. This shocked the girl and her relatives.

On November 10, a thoracic surgeon performed a biopsy, but the material turned out to be insufficient. Therefore, the second intervention on November 22 was already with the opening of the chest and the removal of the neoplasm.

At the council of oncologists, a decision was made to conduct radiation therapy. But while Polina was waiting for the results of the examination, a relapse occurred: the old tumor foci increased and new ones appeared. Therefore, this treatment option was replaced by chemotherapy.

The first two courses with Carboplatin and Paclitaxel did not give results. They were replaced by Keytruda (Pembrolizumab). In September, the girl underwent the tenth course of treatment with this drug. The interval between courses is 3 weeks.

Every month and a half, Polina undergoes expensive contrast tomography so that the doctor understands the results of the treatment.

There are 25 more courses of Kitruda chemotherapy ahead. One course costs about 80,000 UAH. We are launching a collection to pay for three such courses. Polina really hopes for your help. The girl wants to live so much!
