This 8-year-old boy has been through a lot of suffering in his short life so far. Examinations, procedures, operations... Artem was born with a large tumor in his face and neck. This tumor is benign, but, unfortunately, it affects his vital organs which complicates its removal through surgery.

The representatives of the “University Hospital Halle” (Saxony-Anhalt, Halle, Germany) have agreed on helping Artem. Professor Volgemut is a specialist in sclerotherapy – a method of non-surgical treatment of the lymphatic tumors. This approach in treatment of lymphangiomas can not only reduce the size of the tumor, but also prevent its growth. In Artem’s case, this treatment has a positive effect.
After that in May 2020 Artem once again visited clinic. His tracheostoma was removed and now he breaths by himself. This was a victory against-all-odds since our boy all 7 years had to live with a tube in his throat. Beyond that maxillofacial surgeons joined to the surgery and remove four teeth.

Unfortunately, as a result of tumor removing a lot of excess tissues were formed on Artem’s face which can be removed by plastic surgeons. Thus, a new chapter is ahead of Artem. He is going to visit He is to visit a clinic in Eberswald, where he will undergo face and neck surgery. Due to COVID-19, the clinic cannot give an exact answer regarding the timing of the surgery. But this is likely to happen in the spring-summer of 2021.

There is a lot of work ahead, but Artem is ready to bear all these difficulties to be able to say the first words, to smile without pain and simply to become a healthy boy and live a life full of joy.
