Putting kids on their feet
Prematurely born babies are the most difficult category of patients. Due to the immaturity of all their organs, they have a hard time adapting to a new, aggressive environment, cannot breathe, eat, or keep warm on their own, and suffer from numerous complications, including neurological ones. In some of the most severe cases, these complications lead to disability.
To prevent this from happening, the full cycle of nursing care for rush patients in Ukrainian medical institutions involves their long-term observation in catamnesis centers. Such centers ensure early detection of pathology, optimization of breastfeeding, involvement of parents in the developmental care of the child, early start of rehabilitation measures and interventions to prevent the formation of chronic pathology and disability. The catamnesis center also operates at the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, where it provides care for seriously ill and prematurely born children.
One of the prerequisites for medical rehabilitation of preterm infants during the first three years is timely verticalization. Special devices – verticalizers – regulate the position of the body in space, improve and stabilize the cardiovascular system, normalize respiratory processes, stimulate muscle mobility and the musculoskeletal system.
The goal of the project is to raise funds for two modern verticalization systems for the Center for Catamnesis Observation of Children aged 1 to 3 years at the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology named after Academician O.M. Lukyanova of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
Each of us can make a small contribution and give children the opportunity to enjoy movement and an active full life!
