A few months ago, doctors diagnosed her with nonspecific ulcerative colitis. Alina recently underwent tests, which showed the presence of inflammation. She has further tests and consultations with specialists ahead of her.

The woman has already gone through the most difficult stage of treatment, and her condition has stabilised. Now she has to take the vital medications Pentasa, Probiz Intensive, Salofalk and Betargin for six months. If the intestinal mucosa recovers, the stoma can be removed.

In simple terms, the petition describes how the life of a person with IBD changes, how it deteriorates due to the removal of the stoma, and how often IBD leads to complications in the form of intestinal cancer.

The author proposes to include Pentasa and Salofalk in the ‘Affordable Medicines’ programme, noting that there are not many patients with IBD in the country and they should not burden the budget. However, the petition did not receive enough votes.
