Can a child who has grown up experiencing neglect and violence, or was deprived of parental care become a full member of society in the future? Can a child such as this realize his or her full potential? What kind of example are they seeing each day? What kind of future will this bring? These are important questions for а children. As part of the solution to these circumstances, we opened a “Development Club” to assist children in believing in their abilities, to realize self-dignity and to establish a happy and successful future.

Sunshine Children’s Center has been in existence for more than 15 years in the Trebukhiv village of Brovary region. Here, children who have been deprived of parental care, or have suffered pain and loss can go through rehabilitation. The “Development Club” is located in our Sunshine Children’s Center. The club includes children who live at the center, rural children from Trebukhiv village and many other children who need our support. We expect more than 100 children to attend our club meetings this year!

Our goals:
1. Creating opportunities for children to have comprehensive development;
2. Social integration of our children living at Sunshine Children’s Center into the lives of children living in near rural communities;
3. Improving the ability of speaking English as a second language;
4. Developing creative and communication skills;
5. Increasing the level of self-awareness, empathy towards others and compassion;
6. Promoting the construction of positive life perspective.

Activities offered to children are as followed:
1. Film club;
2. Language club;
3. Board games club;
4. Creative activities club (making various crafts).

(Along with these clubs we also focus on the importance of socio-psychological training for each individual child’s well-being.)

The types of club leaders we have are psychologists, social workers, caregivers, volunteers, and English native speakers.

Our “Development Club” already has an excellent building to host the club meetings, however funds to buy necessary furniture is needed. As of now children are sitting on mats and/or the floor for hours at a time. Our vision is to have safe and comfortable furniture for the children. This will help establish comfortability and a calm environment so that the children can learn to their full potential without any hindrances.

With your help we can continue to change the lives of children. We can give them the opportunity to believe in themselves, to realize their full potential, to not fear new challenges, and to believe in a bright future! Please consider donating toward our cause. We can decide to not be indifferent together! By supporting Sunshine Children’s Center you are supporting our future society!
