May 30 is World Asthma Day. To mark the occasion, we’d like to share Timur’s story. When the war broke out, he was only 5 years old. For nine months, his family survived in a damp basement in Polohy. Due to the constant dampness and the inability to move freely, the boy developed severe bronchial asthma.
Now Timur is safe. Despite his illness, he’s doing great in school, builds cities out of Lego, and really dreams of having his own real chess set. And his dearest wish is for the war to end soon.
Immunotherapy with the drug “Oraltek” is already showing results: the attacks are subsiding, and Timur can go outside again. But the treatment cannot be interrupted. For a single mother raising three children, this cost is prohibitive. Controlled asthma does not prevent a full life. Let’s work together to give Timur a childhood free of coughing and shortness of breath!
