Serhiy Chyrva, call sign "Chervonyi", a member of the 58th Ivan Vyhovsky Infantry Brigade, was wounded in the Vuhledar area and lost his lower limb. Please support the wounded defender's prosthetics!

"Chervonyi" met the full-scale invasion at home in Poltava region. He was mobilized on May 17, 2022 and joined the 58th Ivan Vyhovskyi Infantry Brigade. During his service, he and his comrades held positions in the Bakhmut, Kupiansk and Lyman directions. They also visited the Serebrianka forest.

On September 22, 2022, "Chervonyi" received a concussion, and on November 03, 2022, he was shot twice in the leg.

On September 24, 2023, his company arrived in the area of a combat mission on the outskirts of the village of Pavlivka near Vuhledar. Since it was already dark, orientation and visibility were limited.

Serhiy's unit split into small groups and began to stretch along the landings. A group of his comrades lost their bearings and started moving in the wrong direction. So Serhiy went after them to lead them. At that time, enemy artillery and mortar fire began, and it was adjusted by a large number of enemy UAVs flying directly overhead. The shells hit a few meters from our defenders.

"After one of these hits, I felt severe pain in my legs and pelvis, and realized that my comrades were killed. I applied a tourniquet myself, took some medicine that I managed to find. I felt unbearable pain, I wanted to unscrew the turnstile and bleed to death, but I remembered that I promised my wife to call," said "Chervonyi".

After waiting out the shelling, Serhiy crawled into the landing to his other comrades. From there, his comrade dragged him on his back, covered him with branches to hide him from enemy UAVs and left him waiting for medics. Then they evacuated: Bohoyavlenka – Kurakhove – Pokrovsk. Here the man lost consciousness...

"I opened my eyes at Mechnikov Hospital. I saw my wife. She said she only knew that I was lightly wounded. The military unit lost track of me in Pokrovsk and then searched for me with volunteers. They found me in the intensive care unit on a ventilator in an unstable serious condition with a diagnosis of mine-blast trauma. As a result, I have exarticulation of the left hip joint. Simply put, amputation of the lower limb with dismemberment of the hip," says Serhiy.

Serhiy has already undergone a long recovery period – endless surgeries, wound cleaning, anesthesia, which he had a hard time recovering from, intensive care, traumatology, surgery...

The high amputation with hip disarticulation requires complex and expensive prosthetics, for which the funds allocated by the state are not enough. That is why Serhiy is appealing to all dobro.ua donors for help. To get a functional prosthesis, he needs to raise 176,367 UAH.
