We went down – and already find ourselves in the whirlwind of daily affairs. We got up – and already got wrapped in home comfort.

There are 120 children and teenagers with severe disabilities in the Znamyanka orphanage. The vast majority use wheelchairs and walkers to move on their own or with staff’s help.

For the convenience of children, we removed the thresholds in the room, made wide entrances to the bedrooms and classrooms. Children's playgrounds and walking areas have been equipped for wheelchairs. And most importantly – we installed an elevator, thanks to which children in wheelchairs could walk, have fun, plant flowers, play interesting games outside. The children were deprived of all this for many years in a row, and educators and nannies could not lower and lift heavy wheelchairs without elevators and ramps.

But one day the elevator stopped working. Almost 60 children living on the second floor of the building were cut off from spring, fresh air, flowers, birds chirping, walking. Some children cannot attend rehabilitation classes because these rooms are located on the ground floor.

Our goal is to repair the elevator for children and young people with disabilities who live in Znamyanka orphanage. A technical inspection and replacement of several parts is required. Such a simple thing as an elevator is of great importance to all residents of an orphanage.
