Rescuing residents of Kherson region from floods
On the night of June 5-6, 2023, russian occupation forces blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, causing massive destruction and environmental disaster. Kakhovka dam is located in southern Ukraine on the Dnipro River near Kherson. The plant itself and the settlements near it are under temporary occupation.
As of June 7, 2023, the Kakhovka dam no longer exists, districts of the city of Kherson and about 80 settlements are partially or completely flooded, people are being urgently evacuated, and a large number of volunteers have gone to Kherson to help people and save animals.
The scale of the disaster cannot yet be fully assessed, but it is known that 150 tons of machine oil has been released into the water, and problems with drinking water and water supply are expected in the following areas: Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions. Many animals and fish have already died, and people have lost their homes, and even more, they will never be able to return to their villages.
After the critical water level is reached and the population is evacuated, the next more difficult stage is expected to be the elimination of the consequences of the disaster. For this purpose, large quantities of pumps for pumping out water, hoses, rubber boats, life jackets and much more are needed.

Thanks to the project, our Foundation plans to provide several communities in the Kherson region with the necessary equipment to eliminate the consequences of the flooding, in particular:
- Bilozerka community, which has a population of over 11,000 and is hosting the victims of the disaster despite the fact that the village itself is also flooded, with 20 pumps, 5 rubber boats and 20 life jackets;
- Zelenivka community, which has more than 3,000 residents and is located directly near the Kherson city, with motor boats, reverse osmosis filters, water filters, water disinfection tablets, life jackets for children and adults, power banks, generators of various capacities and flashlights.
*The photo below shows the consequences of the flooding of the Bilozerka community (Kherson region) due to the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.
