Safiyka wants to walk like other people

Safiyka was born at 27 weeks of pregnancy – three months early, so she was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit. Doctors performed eye surgery on the girl, and on the fourth day after the baby was born, she suffered a brain hemorrhage. As a result, Safiya was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy and spastic tetraparesis. 

After being discharged from the hospital, almost three months after her birth, she began a painstaking struggle for her daughter's health. Massages, physical therapy, medications, but the results of this treatment were hardly noticeable. Until the parents turned to rehabilitation therapists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, and began to attend the pool and comprehensive rehabilitation. After the first sessions at the rehabilitation centers, Safiyka made her first victories: she began to hold her head, roll over, hold objects and food in her hands, play with toys, sit up and crawl. However, at her age, she is far behind her peers in physical development, she still does not stand or walk independently. She needs to work on this a lot. 

In order for Safiyka to become independent and learn basic skills, she needs high-quality systematic rehabilitation, which the family is unable to pay for, as the girl comes from a large family, has older brothers and is often ill. The mother and the girl undergo many examinations, buy medicines, recently had her teeth treated, many of them under general anesthesia, and underwent surgery on her legs.

She is still at the age when it is possible to put her on her feet, but there is no time to waste. If not, the disease may take away Safiya's health and leave her with a profound disability. Safiyka is an active girl who wants to walk like other children, she loves to go to classes with specialists and is interested in everything. The doctors give good prognoses if the girl visits specialists.
