Save the heart

Every donation to this project helps us save children with congenital heart disease from all over Ukraine.

To live knowing that your child's heart can stop at any moment. That the pressure can rise so high and the ambulance will not have enough time to save them. To see your child unable to play with friends and tired as soon as they wake up in the morning. Sometimes these are not just words, but the reality of thousands of Ukrainian families. 

About 5,500 thousand children with congenital heart disease are born in Ukraine every year. All these children need help. Among them, more than five hundred can be saved without opening the heart! To do this, it is necessary to perform endovascular operations to install heart implants!.

Installing an occluder (heart implant) is an innovative method. Unlike open heart surgery, it does not require cutting the chest for operation and long rehabilitation. The child's heart is not stopped, and possible hypoxia and loss of brain function are excluded. These are absolutely safe and modern surgeries that cardiac surgeons at the Amosov Institute have been performing since 2013. Sometimes doctors make 11 operations per day. The operation to install the implant requires only a few hours, and in two days the child returns home to his or her normal life. The doctors provide this procedure free of charge, but they are powerless without medical devices (implants).

There is no government support for the purchasing of implants and supporting children with congenital heart problems.  The purchase of heart implants, where the price for one sometimes reaches 120,000 UAH, is an impossible and extremely high amount for an ordinary Ukrainian family.

The dobro.ua platform, in partnership with the Hearts of the Future Charitable Foundation, has created a national program, Save the Heart, which aims to provide support to children with congenital heart disease by caring people and companies. The project has operated for 3 years, collected more than UAH 18 million for the purchase of heart implants and saved 296 children. And our mission is continuing!

Since 2013, donors on the dobro.ua platform have been supporting projects to help children with heart defects. Over the years, our Assistance Operator, the Hearts of the Future Charitable Foundation, has purchased more than 800 heart implants. 800 heart implants is not just a number. These are 800 chances for life, for the happiness of parents, for dreams that can come true. These are 800 times when together we have given hope to children who need it so much.

Every donation you make to this project helps us to save children who are living with congenital heart disease and need heart implants.  We rely only on caring people who believe in the future and are ready to give children a chance to live. Together we can give hope to children who need it.

In 2021/2022, the funds collected through this project saved the hearts of 26 children. You can find the children's information and photo reports  at the News and Documentation section.

Also in December 2021, thanks to a contribution of the comedy project Diesel Show, these 11 children were operated.

Also, thanks to a contribution from the project "Buy a sticker - do good with M!KO! Fall" project, the hearts of Varvara Kolesnikova and Angelika Vasilieva, born in 2020, were saved. The operation took place on 29.12.2021.
