To save prematurely born babies and ensure their further healthy and fulfilling life, the Chernivtsi Regional Perinatal Center really needs a NeoPuffTM T-type RD900 AEU respiratory resuscitator and a portable pulse oximeter.

The war rapidly disrupted the happy peace plans of many people in Ukraine and forced them to flee from the eastern and central regions of our state to the west due to active hostilities. Among them there are a lot of pregnant women who hoped to give birth to their long-awaited children in their native cities and villages, to rejoice in the circle of relatives and friends about how they grow up, but fate decreed otherwise...

Currently, maternity hospitals and perinatal centers in the western regions are operating under increased load due to an increase in the flow of internally displaced women. Among these medical institutions is the Chernivtsi Regional Perinatal Center, which provides highly qualified obstetric-gynecological and neonatological care to residents of the city and region, and since February of this year, to pregnant women from all over Ukraine who have found temporary shelter in Bukovina.Unfortunately, due to the insane stress that women experience in connection with the terrible events they have witnessed, the number of premature births and babies that require special care and care from doctors has also increased. The issue of purchasing a respiratory resuscitator for prematurely born babies with a compressor and a portable pulse oximeter for providing primary resuscitation care directly in the delivery rooms has become even more relevant.

Prematurely born children are the most difficult category of patients. Due to the immaturity of all organs, they are hard to adapt to a new aggressive environment for them, they do not know how to breathe, eat, keep warm on their own, and suffer from numerous complications. The exit of these crumbs is long and difficult, it requires the use of high-tech medical equipment and the use of modern methods of treatment. Even 15-20 years ago, respiratory disorders were one of the main causes of death in premature babies, and artificial lung ventilation for them is almost the only chance to survive. However, practice has shown that prolonged respiratory support with the introduction of a special breathing tube for babies into the trachea was quite traumatic and often caused additional infections.

But science does not stand still, new, more progressive and milder methods of respiratory therapy for children have been invented, which in some cases make it possible to avoid classical artificial lung ventilation altogether. Among them is CPAP therapy, which is implemented by the Neopuff device.It is intended for the treatment of respiratory disorders in newborns by creating a constant positive airway pressure in the first minutes after birth in the delivery rooms. The resuscitator allows you to perform the "continuous lung inflation maneuver", widely used in Europe and the USA and has already proven its high efficiency.

Thanks to this manipulation, in the first "golden" minutes of life, the need for classical artificial ventilation with intubation of the baby's trachea is significantly reduced, the need for the use of an expensive drug – surfactant, which prevents the alveoli of the lungs from sticking together, decreases the duration of stay of children on respiratory support and reduces the number of complications, associated with prolonged mechanical ventilation.
