Sensory integration of Nastya
Nastya is the third child in a large family from Mariupol, Donetsk region. Older sisters and younger brother of Nastya have developmental features and disabilities. The girl was born on time and up to two years old developed like all healthy children. Nastya grew up and delighted her mother's heart. But at the age of two, she gradually stopped speaking, and within a year she completely “retired”. Mom began to notice that she was developing more slowly than her peers.
They decided to replace Nastya's small social circle with a group of peers in kindergarten. But at the age of three, when her mother took Nastya to the medical and pedagogical commission, she was not even taken to a specialized kindergarten. Friends and relatives, wishing to cheer and support, unanimously said that they had to wait and in a year it would be better.
"We almost never left the house, tried to work with the child on our own. But due to the peculiarities of Nastya's development and behavior, we did not succeed. We turned to a private specialist, but no one could help us. Without the support of specialists, the child's condition was constantly deteriorating", her mother recalls.
When Nastya was 5 years old, she was registered with a psychiatrist. The next year was painful for everyone: parents and girls. None of the drugs suited her, and the girl's condition was aggravated by adverse reactions. At the age of 8, the girl was sent to a rehabilitation center, but, unfortunately, she was able to attend it only for a year, all this time Nastya had difficulties in establishing contact with others. Only complex corrective therapy can help Nastya master self-care and communication skills.A girl can be taught to notice others, control her emotions, and deal with fears. Up to 80% of children with autism have a disability, but under certain circumstances, a child can, when he grows up, move on to an independent life.
Now Nastya is 10 years old, since the new school year her parents are again trying to study with Nastya in the rehabilitation center. They turned to our Foundation for help in paying for the next course of therapy. We believe in every child and hope that we can raise UAH 14,160 to help Nastya.
