For five long years, the Lyamzin family dreamed of two treasured stripes in the test. Prayers were heard and a miracle happened. The first 18 weeks passed in happiness, but on the 20th due to the threat of disruption, mother underwent surgery and the remaining period passed in the clinic. Family was warmed by the thought that a son would be born and everything would be forgotten. But fate prepared a terrible test... Nikita was born by emergency cesarean section at 36 weeks of gestation, very weak, without a sucking reflex, with saggy arms and legs. Neurosonography showed diffuse changes, pericentric ischemia, and brain cysts.

The kid was quickly transferred to another hospital, where he spent a month. The most difficult was to establish feeding in the absence of a sucking reflex. It was hellishly difficult, without sleep and rest, mother tried to feed her child, not allowing the probe to be installed. Thanks to these efforts, a swallowing reflex appeared and the child was discharged home, although his physical condition was very poor.

After 3 months, the boy did not begin to hold his head and roll over, there was no support on his legs. At 4 months, the diagnosis of SMA 1 was made. Mom, having read about this disease, just wanted to close her eyes and not wake up, gripped by fear and horror, and one question was pulsing in her head: “for what?” ... Usually, children with this diagnosis do not live up to 2 years. DNA analysis came after 1.5 months of painful expectation. It was negative. At that time, Nikita was already 6 months old and he still lay. One neurologist was changed for another, they all copied the diagnosis from each other, not trying to figure out what the problem was. There was only one recommendation — to accept it, he could never hold his head, sit, walk.

Parents did not reconcile. So Nikita was in a Chinese clinic. Three months later, the boy was leaving home confidently holding his head and back. He sat, turned over, appeared support on his legs, could stand on all fours. After the 2nd course of treatment — crawled. After the 3rd — Nikita began to walk slowly but surely!
But the struggle is not over. To achieve peers' development, Nikita still has a lot of work to do.
Thanks to Ukrainian Charity Market donors the boy underwent 2 courses of treatment at the Brain Stimulation Center with a good result, the child became more active, began to make sounds, smile, show emotions, chew food learned to drink from a straw. The baby needs regular rehabilitation, which can not be interrupted. Each next course consolidates the previous result and develops new skills. To stop — means to push back what has been achieved. Help Nikita to get treatment!
