GT: Art workshop "TAK"
Vlad is 32. He has visual and hearing impairments, scoliosis, stuttering and the 2d group of disability (according to the Ukrainian system). Vlad has graduated from the 9th grade of a boarding school. It has been 10 years already and since then he did not study and could not get a job. In 2017, he became a student at the “TAK” art workshop. Vlad is the most diligent student in the workshop. He learned to sew and to make felt toys. He is always ready to undertake any kind of work and even to move mountains. Recently at one of the Kurazh Bazar Events, he got his first salary for selling artworks from the workshop. After that, he fixed the tap at home and bought his mom a purse as a present. It was such a touching moment, that his mom could not hold back her tears.

Vlad needs to study. He needs to be engaged in the workshop to get prepared for future employment. An intensive work of the development of social, communicative and behavioral skills is expected ahead. We want people with disabilities to have work, their interests, and their own lives. So they would be able to draw, make crafts, sew, сommunicate and learn. They won’t be locked up in four walls, which would make them feel lonely. So they would have everything that everyone deserves. They would have real communication and support. So they would live in a world where disability has a decent future.
For the productive work of our "TAK" art workshop, we do need a new overlock sewing machine. We need a machine that works silently, as our students can get scared of sudden sounds. This is a machine that has lots of automated operations. Such equipment will make the work more comfortable for our students.
Moreover, it has a built-in base for easy sewing. Overlock is needed for processing fabrics, in such a way the product will have a more accurate look, as it is important for our students to sell their works after they’ve done them. One month is needed for creating 10 table suits, 20 towels, 15 eco bags and 4 super-soft stuffed toys "Huggers".
"TAK" Art workshop is a space for young people with disabilities (18+). Our philosophy is the equality and improvement of the quality of life.
