“Mom, will I have my own real backpack?”, asks six-year-old Solomiika, who will be starting school for the first time. She lives with cerebral palsy, and her single mother puts every penny toward therapy, transportation, and basic needs. Her daughter doesn’t dream of dolls or a tablet – she dreams of a shiny school backpack, just like the one her neighbor has.
It sounds simple. But for many families raising children with disabilities, even a basic backpack is out of reach. These children – living with CP, autism, genetic syndromes, and other conditions – often study in inclusive classrooms or via individual learning plans. And often, they show up for their first school day with hand-me-downs or even carrying school supplies in plastic bags.
That’s why we created the “School Dream – 2025” project. Our “Dream to Live” Foundation has been supporting children with disabilities since 2014, and since 2022 we’ve run this initiative every year to help them get ready for school with dignity. In 2025, we’ve already secured all the necessary supplies: notebooks, pens, markers, paints, scissors, glue – over 15 items per set. Now, we need your help to complete each package with the most important item – a proper backpack.
We’re raising funds for 100 backpacks. Each backpack will be carefully selected based on the child’s age, size, and specific physical needs. They will be new, lightweight, durable, and comfortable.
The distribution is organized directly by the foundation. Families will fill out a detailed application and provide disability certificates. No items will be given through institutions or third parties – every backpack will go directly into the hands of a child who needs it. We verify all requests, prepare signed delivery receipts, and publish transparent photo reports.
For some, a backpack is just a thing. For our children, it’s a symbol of equality, confidence, and care. It means: “Yes, I belong.” “Yes, I can.” “Yes, I matter.”
Please support “School Dream – 2025” and help these kids carry more than just books – help them carry hope.
