School backpack for children in vulnerable situations

The start of the school year is always an exciting time, but for children from vulnerable categories it comes with additional stress. War, forced relocation, the loss of a home, or difficult life circumstances create constant anxiety. In such conditions, parents often find it hard to fully prepare their child for school, and the child themselves may struggle to settle into learning and feel confident among their peers.

Preparing for school should include not only buying notebooks and pencils, but also caring for the child's psycho-emotional wellbeing.

The "School Backpack" campaign is designed to ease the financial burden on families in difficult circumstances who belong to vulnerable categories, and to give schoolchildren the tools to cope with stress.

We are raising funds for school backpacks that combine everything needed for lessons with tools to support mental health, for 100 children from preferential and vulnerable categories. The target audience of our project includes children of fallen soldiers, those held in captivity, or those considered missing (grades 2-11), as well as orphans, half-orphans, children with disabilities or children of parents with disabilities, children from large families of combat veterans, and families of internally displaced persons (grades 2-4).

The cost of one such set is 800 UAH.

What will be inside the backpack:
– basic school stationery (a quality backpack, notebooks, writing supplies, drawing pads and art materials),
– tools for psycho-emotional relief (anti-stress elements for releasing tension during air raid alerts or difficult lessons, resource-oriented cards and art therapy materials, useful small items that help the child feel safe and at ease).

The backpack becomes the child's personal "safe space." Having the necessary items restores a sense of normality and equality with peers, while the psychological elements help the child independently manage anxiety throughout the school day.

Every contribution on the platform is a specific notebook, an art therapy card, or a quality backpack that will give a child back the feeling of being cared for and prepared for the new school year.
