Sewing machines for young people with disabilities

We ask for help in purchasing sewing machines in the class of occupational therapy for young people with disabilities in the city of Zhytomyr. Young disabled people will be able to be involved in modern production process, obtaining satisfaction and decent reward for their work. This will significantly help for their acquisition of professional skills and their further employment.

We collect funds for four sewing machines, the total cost of which is 17 596 UAH. Therefore, we ask for your help.
The city of Zhytomyr is the only city in Ukraine, housing The Higher Boarding School, which professionally educates and trains the young people with disabilities. Therefore, young people with disabilities of physical and mental development could study only. However, even upon obtaining the desired specialty, young people are often do not have the opportunity to receive the work experience to be necessary for their employment, being received more than modest pension only.

Acquiring sewing machines for an occupational therapy class would help to teach those people to certain handicraft techniques, namely: making children's educational books from felt, eco-bags, pencil cases, stationery and car organizers, children's toys, bedspreads and other products. This will further give them the opportunity to sell their own products and earn money for them. In turn, this will contribute to the creative development, self-realization and self-employment of young people with special needs.
