During the war, people endure immense losses: homes, belongings, the familiar world they once knew – all of which can crumble to dust in an instant. But there is a place where we offer refuge: a roof over their heads, clean beds, hot meals, and psychological support. For many, this is a chance to begin a new life.
Our small shelter in Kyiv has become home to over 12 people: parents with children, young adults, and others who have lost their housing due to war, fires, or building collapses. They arrive broken, but hopeful. We give them not just shelter, but warmth, dignity, and faith in tomorrow.
Yet we constantly face challenges. Recently, our old water heater broke down. Without hot water, maintaining hygiene and keeping the shelter clean becomes nearly impossible – especially with so many people living here. We can’t wash dishes properly, and our residents can’t take a hot shower after a long day to wash away exhaustion and anxiety. For people already on the edge, cold water becomes a painful reminder that they have once again been stripped of life’s basics. It shatters the fragile sense of security we have worked so hard to rebuild.
But here is the good news: thanks to kind-hearted people, we have already raised enough funds to purchase a new water heater! It is waiting to be installed. Now we need your help for the final, decisive step – because without professional installation and connection, this new equipment will just sit unused.
The old boiler has served its time, and we have already taken the first step toward change. With your support, we can finish the job: cover the cost of installation and connection, and restore hot water to everyone in the shelter. Become the one who brings warmth back into the hearts of our residents!
