Hearing aids for Liubov

Liubov is 9. She’s a bright and lively girl who loves dancing, singing, drawing, and reading. She studies at the Velykobuyalytskyi Lyceum in Odesa region and dreams… of being able to hear clearly. And also – for the war to end soon.

Since early childhood, Liubov has often been ill. She was born prematurely at 7 months, and later diagnosed with bilateral tubotympanic eustachitis.

This is a condition in which the Eustachian tube – connecting the middle ear and the throat – becomes blocked or dysfunctional. As a result, fluid builds up in the middle ear, pressure increases, and sound becomes distorted or muffled. As of today, the girl's diagnosis is bilateral chronic combined hearing loss of grade 3.

What does this mean for a child?

• She hears only part of the sounds – muffled, as if through thick glass.

• Often doesn't understand what is being said, especially in noisy environments or when someone speaks from the side.

• Has difficulty recognizing words and phrases – even familiar ones.

• Feels tired from constantly straining to catch the meaning.

• Feels isolated in a group, even among friends.

• Her speech development is delayed.

• It’s hard for her to keep up with school on the same level as her peers.

What’s the solution?

Unfortunately, standard treatment has not been effective. Liubov needs hearing aids – devices that will compensate for her hearing loss and give her the chance to grow and learn fully.
