Mywife and me were offered to reject him in the hospital. Of course I had questions like why, for what? I knew nothing about the syndrome and what was lying ahead of us. I started to search for information, met other parents from the organization “Down Syndrome”.

And I realized it was not as bad as I had thought in the
beginning. This diagnosis is not the end of life. It is quite the opposite. After Dima was born, I started running. First, it was for short distances, later for longer ones. I ran a marathon in Kiev, in France, in Poland. My son likes to run, too. And I think he will run his first marathon for children soon. This year Dima will start his first year in
school. He is a very friendly boy, and I hope he will become part of the school community. Since long time, his diagnosis has not been a problem for me. I have accepted him as he is. And I want the society to accept him and other children like him.
