Mr. Ivan (name changed) worked all his life, raised children, built a home, and never asked for help. He is 79 years old today. He lives alone, barely leaves his apartment due to a leg condition, and spends most of his pension on medications. Before every visit from a social worker he shaves carefully, but has long been unable to get a haircut. When the social worker-hairdresser comes to see him, Mr. Ivan smiles and jokes:
Now I won't be ashamed to meet people.
For him, this is not simply a haircut – it is the chance to feel neat, confident, and dignified once again.
In the "Home Care" project, a social worker-hairdresser visits elderly people living alone at home. Many of those in our care, due to advanced age, chronic illness, and limited mobility, cannot make their way to a hairdresser on their own, and their income barely covers the bare essentials. Regular haircuts help not only to maintain a tidy appearance, but also improve wellbeing, lift the spirits, and bring the feeling of human attention and care.
We are raising funds to pay for the work of a social worker who gives haircuts and offers those in our care not only a neat hairstyle, but also respect, conversation, and a warm smile. Thanks to the funds raised, he will be able to give 25 haircuts. Please support this fundraiser – together we will help people who spent their whole lives caring for others to feel that today, someone is caring for them too.
