S. Mykolai Saint Nicholas will not forget about the children

The day of St. Nicholas is coming – a long-awaited holiday for all children, especially those, who are in need, who expect for care during this time most of all. We kindly ask for your help in purchasing of sweet gifts for the holiday of St. Mykolai for children who are grown in Ivanychi and Rozhyshche orphanages and children from large families, poor, crisis families, who are under care of Children and Family Center of Caritas Volyn.

It isn’t a secret that the wishes of these children can’t be realized without our joint support. Well, how would children's holiday look like without sweets? We need your help to prepare gifts for children. In the winter night before December 19, St. Nicholas comes down on a silver rope from heaven to earth. The gray-haired, in the long golden clothes, he puts wonderful gifts for children under the pillows. On that day, when the church honors St. Nicholas, children wait for the gifts.

Unfortunately, there are children whose lives for various reasons were deprived of the joy and warmth of the family. Orphanage – is a premise designed to accommodate many children together. There are study and restrooms, bedrooms, dining room inside. There are books, notebooks, toys, swings, balls... Only the closest people – mothers, unfortunately, don’t hurry here every evening to take their children home... It is their home and they live in it from different ages.

There are also children whose families are in difficult life circumstances (crises, large, poor, incomplete). Although they have parents, very often they don’t have a job, have big debts for utilities, some of them rent houses, they don’t have money for medicines, clothes, shoes and hygiene products, they don’t have money to prepare children for school. Just like these children who are under the care of the Children and Family Center of Caritas Volyn (social, psychological support, humanitarian assistance). All these children are waiting for gifts from St. Nicholas, waiting like nobody. They also write letters, try to behave well in order not to annoy St. Nicholas. There is no child in the world, who, in anticipation of a long-awaited evening, haven’t dream of something special. Is it possible to describe that trembling joy when the child unfolds a beautifully packed gift, savor sweets? There is nothing sadder than disappointment, deprivation of warmth and care for the children who believed that they are needed.

Since 2011, the Caritas Volyn team is working hard to prepare a holiday for the children in need and bring joy and sincere smiles. During the campaign, thanks to the support of a charity, 2,800 children received gifts. Since any children's holiday can’t be without sweets, we kindly ask for your help us in purchasing sweet gifts. 300 children in need believe that Saint Nicholas will visit them! Each of these children who are in a crisis life situation is full of faith in God and human kindness.

We hope that this year, like the previous ones, you will become active assistants of St. Nicholas, and we will all be able to create a real holiday for disadvantaged children! We sincerely hope for your help!
