Children's Day – for many, it is a holiday, a day of joy, ice cream, and games. But there are boys and girls who have lost the sense of celebration. These children are ordinary, just like others. They love to laugh, play, run, draw, and make things. But today, their childhood is unfolding amidst the horrific reality of war.
Our beneficiaries are children undergoing rehabilitation at our Centre for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children. They are withdrawn and hungry for affection. Their childhood has been overshadowed by trauma, loss, or a sudden upheaval in their lives. They are learning to trust adults again and to believe that the world can be safe and kind.
Then there are children from families whose parents are ill, have lost their jobs or homes, or have found themselves in crisis. These children learned too early what it means to "save money," "endure," or "wait for mom to come back from the hospital."
What unites all our children? They barely know what it feels like to have a holiday just for them. They are deeply sensitive to support.
On Children's Day, we will throw a real celebration for them. Amid the realities of war, we will gather the children in small groups where they can enjoy themselves, share their impressions, and have fun. For many of them, such a celebration will be a first-time experience in their lives.
Thanks to your support of our project, we will be able to organize a celebration for the children, purchase the necessary food for a festive table, essential games, paints, craft kits, and pay for the work of a celebration coordinator. Help us give these children a joyful holiday!
