Reporting of the CF Children of Heroes as of July 2025.

Since the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine, thousands of children have lost one or both parents. For some, this was the moment when their entire childhood fell apart. For others, it was a challenge to find new meaning and support. The Children of Heroes Foundation supports such children in various aspects of their lives: safety, health, and emotional recovery. One of the priority areas is education as the key to the future, confidence and self-realization.
Thanks to donations on the dobro.ua platform, the Foundation managed to finance the education of 23 children aged 7-8. These are boys and girls who live in different parts of Ukraine - in particular, in Kyiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytsky, Dnipro, Poltava, Chernivtsi, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Cherkasy regions. One child is currently abroad due to forced evacuation. Two of the participants have the status of internally displaced persons, and two more live in the frontline areas.
In partnership with the GoITeens online school, the Foundation provided them with an introductory Scratch programming course that lasts up to six months. This is not just training - it is the first touch of the future profession, a chance to create their own games and projects, and see the result of their own work. The basic cost of one month of training is UAH 2000, and the full course costs UAH 10,500. Some children also take extended programs costing up to UAH 3400 per month. Funding for the project was made possible by donations collected through the dobro.ua platform.

One child refused to participate, and his place will be transferred to another participant. The rest are already in the process of learning: some will complete the course by October 2025, others - in early 2026. As of today, 21 beneficiaries have started Scratch training and the actual amount of project funds used is UAH 66,274.22 (sixty-six thousand two hundred and seventy-four hryvnias and 22 kopecks). The balance of the funds in the amount of UAH 171,717.23 will be used after the training is completed in January 2026.

The stories of the children who are already undergoing training are the best evidence of how support turns into opportunity. We have collected just a few of them here, but each one shows how important it is to give a child a chance. These are stories about loss, resilience, a new start and faith in oneself.

Mark (Zhovkva, Lviv region)

Family members: mother Yulia and son Mark, 8 years old. They live in Zhovkva, Lviv region. The boy graduated from the 3rd grade. His father died in March 2024 in Donetsk region, defending our country. Despite the pain of loss, Mark remains extremely motivated to learn. He is doing well at school and is passionate about chess - he plays professionally and actively participates in local tournaments.

This spring, thanks to the Foundation's educational program, Mark got a long-awaited opportunity to join the Scratch course at GoITeens. It was his long-held dream. Now he is very happy to learn new skills in the field of programming, which opens up new horizons for his development. The family is sincerely grateful for this opportunity.

Yegor (Kyiv)

Yehor lives with his mother in Kyiv. In December 2022, their family suffered a terrible loss - the boy's father was killed during the fighting in the Donetsk region. He had no military experience, but volunteered to defend Ukraine. His courage and dedication will forever remain an example of strength for his son.

The news of the loss of his father was extremely painful for Yehor. However, thanks to the support of his mother, teachers and caring people, the boy is gradually returning to normal life. He is active, open to new things, and tries himself in different directions with interest. One of them is IT.

Now Yegor is taking programming courses with great pleasure. He likes to understand how the computer world works, create his first algorithms and see the results of his work. Although it is too early to talk about his future profession, his interest in IT opens up new horizons for him.

The interim report on the implementation of this project is added to the Reports and Documents section.

Thank you all for supporting this important project and the opportunity to provide education to the children of our Heroes!
