Yana Pasichnyk is an eight-year-old girl who had only a one-in-a-million chance. Her symptoms seemed ordinary until doctors diagnosed her with pancreatoblastoma—an extremely rare and aggressive malignant tumor of the pancreas. This disease affects only one child in a million.

The lifesaving team of surgeons and oncologists at St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Lviv performed extensive treatment and a highly complex operation. Seven months of chemotherapy, tumor reduction from 10 to 2 cm, a difficult surgical intervention, reconstruction of the bile ducts and intestines—and today, Yanusia has returned home healthy.

This story is not just a story of survival. It is an example of how high-class equipment and advanced technologies help save children’s lives.
