Urgent surgery for Daniela

Tiny Daniela, who is not yet a year old, was rushed to the hospital with severe brain inflammation. Her condition is critical: to save the child, immediate neurosurgery is required. Daniilka has a complicated diagnosis – progressive hydrocephalus and shunt infection. 

When you look at the bright photos of little Daniilka, it seems that she is an ordinary baby: big eyes, tiny fingers, a smile that is just beginning to form. But behind these photos is a struggle for every breath, every moment. Since birth, Daniela has had congenital hydrocephalus, a condition where fluid accumulates in the head and puts pressure on the brain. She was fitted with a special shunt, a thin tube that drains this fluid. Unfortunately, the shunt recently failed and caused an infection that spread rapidly.

Daniilochka's condition became critical. She was taken to the emergency room with a high fever, seizures and inflammation of the meninges – this complication is called ventriculitis, and it can be fatal. To give the child a chance for recovery, doctors scheduled an urgent surgery. Without it, Daniela will not survive.
