Those on the verge of life and death

"Resuscitation department, the amount of money spent for the medicines every day is crazy, we have nothing to sell already," the parents say. The child is sick from birth and we know that the cost of daily maintenance treatment does not really leave room for savings. Cystic fibrosis is expensive to keep a person alive.

 It is a severe genetic disease that destroys all major organs and systems in the body. It interferes with digestion and assimilation of food. It destroys the liver and pancreas. It destroys the lungs and leads to suffocation. It exhausts the heart. To combat this disease, you need to follow the protocol of supportive treatment strictly. It helps prolong life for many years. However, sometimes severe exacerbations occur, and usually it happens due to the height of severe lung infections. Then the patient goes to the hospital or even to the intensive care unit and balances literally on the verge of life and death.

 Cystic fibrosis is special in that it definitely makes sense to "fight to the last." Even today's extremely serious condition does not mean that the patient is doomed. Intensive treatment, high doses of properly selected drugs, the wisdom of the doctors and the will of the patient have made miracles happen more than once. They return from there, "from that borderline".

 Our foundation has been supporting children and adults with cystic fibrosis for many years. We usually undertake strategic, long-term tasks and primarily provide children and adults who have cystic fibrosis with medical equipment. But we can't stand aside, when one of our wards is in critical condition. Some drugs are available in hospitals, but sometimes we have to buy a lot of things urgently.
