He received a prosthesis and returned to perform his duties at the front
Yurii is 33 years old. He is from Kryvyi Rih.
He helped the frontline before the full-scale invasion began, but on 24 February 2022, he volunteered to serve. At first, as a scout, he performed combat missions in the Kherson region, where he managed to liberate several villages from the occupiers, then he was deployed to Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk. He was wounded in the latter area. While working, he and his colleague stepped on a mine. Both of them lost their legs.
Yuriy was treated in hospitals in Kurakhovo, Dnipro, Kyiv and, finally, in Lviv. At the NESZLAMNI Centre he was fitted with a prosthesis and an improved foot. It was bought with the help of the Prostheses for the Unbreakable project fundraising.
The defender has already returned to his duties at the front, albeit in a slightly different specialisation. Now his priority is to share his experience, which can save dozens of lives of the military.
Yuriy has also received several awards and honours, including from the President.
