Prosthetics 2nd quarter of 2025

In the second quarter of 2025, bionic prostheses were provided through the “Prostheses for the Unbreakable” project on the Dobro.ua platform to defenders and civilians who lost limbs as a result of various circumstances, namely:

• Artem Karvan – bionic prosthesis of the right arm. For personal reasons, the patient declined to share his story publicly. The total cost of the prosthesis was 542,324.00 UAH.
• Viktor Meshcheryakov – bionic prosthesis for his right arm. At the beginning of 2024, the draft notice arrived, and the soldier's son also put on a pixel uniform. Viktor became a grenadier. He did not serve long. Already in six months, in August, an enemy shell flew into his trench in the Pokrovsk direction. He recalls: “I started screaming! And not even from the pain, but from the realization of my injury, because I lost my arm then. I remember that I managed to give myself medical assistance, and then the evacuation began and I gradually began to lose consciousness.” Now Viktor has fully accepted his injury. He is undergoing rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN Center, learning to use his high-tech prosthesis—a bionic arm—and dreaming of returning to music. "I have to keep moving forward, and today I dream of writing music to convey to people certain deep meanings that I lost at the beginning of the great war. Music is my main occupation, and I cannot imagine my life without it," says the UNBROKEN defender. The total cost of the prosthesis is 730,427.00 UAH.
• Potapov Viktor – bionic prosthesis of the left arm. 34-year-old Viktor Potapov, from Kirovograd region, worked as a senior boiler operator before the full-scale invasion. In May 2023, he joined the defense of Ukraine. He was assigned to the 37th Separate Marine Brigade as a senior gunner in a fire support company. He suffered a serious shrapnel wound in July of that year. During an assault, he tried to pull out his dead comrade and came under enemy fire. As a result, he lost his left arm. After 2.5 months at the UNBROKEN Center, he received a mechanical prosthetic arm, and some time later, a bionic one. The total cost of the prosthetics was 738,648.00 UAH.
• Roman Ivan – bionic prosthesis of the left arm. Ivan began defending Ukraine back in 2014. At that time, the defender had no idea that in eight years, the occupiers would set foot in his native Mykolaiv region. At the time of the full-scale invasion, he was serving in the Luhansk region as a heavy equipment driver in the 79th Air Assault Brigade. Ivan was rescued in four cities: Dnipro, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv. He arrived at the UNBROKEN Center still in serious condition. Here, he also underwent a series of operations. In particular, he had his arm reamputated, his infected hip joint removed, and a hernia that had formed on his abdomen after the injury closed. The defender may still face surgery on his eyes to improve his vision. Between surgeries, Ivan became interested in archery. After completing his recovery, the veteran wants to train even harder and dreams of participating in the next Paralympic Games. The total cost of prosthetics is 723,813.00 UAH.
