The defender was fitted with a technological prosthesis with an electronic elbow
37-year-old Oleksandr Rudzevych from Kyiv. The man joined the army voluntarily and became a mortar team commander. At the time of his injury, Oleksandr was fighting in Donetsk region. As soon as he replaced his comrades at the post, a mortar attack began. The shell fragments severely damaged Oleksandr's right arm and doctors had to amputate it.
The defender was admitted to the UNBROKEN Centre for prosthetics.
The best solution for an amputation like Oleksandr's is a prosthetic shoulder with an external power source and a hybrid electronic elbow. The latter can be fixed in different positions using signals sent by the muscles when they contract. This is the artificial limb the defender received. Now he is learning to use it.
We are grateful to the caring Ukrainians who contribute to the Prostheses for Invincibles charity project.
Thanks to your donations, our military can receive high-tech artificial limbs.
The collection is ongoing. Anyone can make a contribution to prosthetics for our Ukrainian defenders.
