Ultrasonographer is badly needed
If cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, it is easier to cure it. The fastest and most reliable way of diagnostics is biopsy. Basically it is a tiny piece of tissue taken by a doctor from a "suspicious" place. At the National Institute of Cancer there has been broken a sensor of the ultrasound apparatus; without it to do biopsy is rather difficult. Our goal is to raise funds for a new sensor and to deliver it to the National Institute of Cancer as soon as possible.
At the Diagnostics Department of the National Institute of Cancer (which welcomes many children too) there has been broken a sensor of the ultrasound apparatus that helps (to be more accurate – helped – in the past!) to do biopsy of any organs, at any depth. If tumors are of large size, then it is possible even without a sensor to hit the tumor and get a test sample. However, with tumors of smaller sizes the biopsy success depends on this sensor. Thus, NO needle biopsy of smaller size tumors is performed at the Institute currently.
This kind of examination is necessary in order to determine a type of tumor and to select the right treatment. The smaller the tumor is, the more prospects for successful treatment there are; however, if there is no way to perform biopsy with ultrasound diagnostics, there is not any chance to determine an adequate treatment. Weekly 15-20 adult patients and 3-4 children patients need to undergo such a procedure. By the way, at the National Institute of Cancer this procedure is free of charge.
We invite all sensitive to other people’s pain to join such a noble cause. While the required sensor is absent, the procedure is performed by the device not suitable for such kind of examination which in its turn carries big risk of mistake!
